It’s believed that Amaterasu possesses extraordinary powers to tap into and manipulate mystical energies for a number of effects, mostly in conjuring great heat and light on the level of a small sun.

Site name: Izanami – Central deities in the Japanese creation myth. Izanami and Izanagi, “He Who Invites” and “She Who Invites” were the eighth pair of brother-and-sister gods to appear after heaven and earth separated out of chaos.

Site name: Izanagi – Izanagi is one of the divine creators of the *islands of Japan and the founder of marriage, as well as many of Shinto’s religious rituals. He serves as advisor to his daughter Amaterasu, the queen of Heaven.

* Izanami and Izanagi have played a colorful role in Japanese mythology… in the creation of the islands of Japan while standing on the bridge or stairway to heaven, the two gods used a jewel encrusted spear to stir the ocean. Upon withdrawing the spear, salt crystalized into drops on the tip and these fell back into the ocean as islands.
